European stocks end flat as oil companies play spoilsport

Date October 10, 2007

European stock markets ended flat today taking a break after a robust two week rally. Banking and energy stocks consolidated their gains. However the mining sector was very strong and to an extent offseted the weakness in banking and energy stocks. Royal Dutch Shell which is one the biggest european oil companies lost about 2% even though oil prices firmed up steadily in view of the weakness in the dollar.
